Diagnostic sonography (ultrasonography) is an ultrasound-based diagnostic imaging technique used for visualizing internal body structures including tendons, muscles, joints, vessels and internal organs for possible pathology or lesions. Conventional ultrasound produces 2D pictures. Recently the use of 3D ultrasound producing a three-dimensional image is become more spread. There are various applications of 3D sonography, like in Obstetrical or Breast scanning.
